Black Attack

When the Fall/Winter 2008 shows started in New York in February, I wasn't sure what the color of the season would be. After all the fashion weeks ended, several key designers had packed their runways with black. No one was pushing the simple chameleon little black dress. Rather, black showed up in grunge layers, structured garments, or high drama details.

Black takes shape at Yves Saint Laurent, Gareth Pugh (whose shows are always black , but I love this too much to care), and Balenciaga.
Black shows it's many modern layers at Burberry, Rodarte, and Alexander Wang.
Black is dramatic at Alexander McQueen, Prada, and Givenchy.
